Describe the reader and the goal

Explain who will read the content and what they need to understand or do. Mention where the final text will appear.

Specify the source language and the required target variety. For Words by Lia translation projects, the direction is English, Spanish or French into European Portuguese.

Choose the service together

Say whether you need a new translation, a review, localisation or transcription. If a machine translation exists, mention it so post-editing can be discussed.

For transcription, describe the recording and its language. For translated text, make the source material available through the agreed channel.

Share the working requirements

Include the approximate volume, preferred deadline and final format. Add terminology, style guidance or reference material if available.

Raise any sensitive-material handling requirements before sharing files. This helps define how the project should be prepared.
